Classes are kept intimate in size (3-5 couples) to facilitate the learning experience and allow the moms- and dads-to-be to better build relationships with other couples also on the journey to parenthood. We incorporate fun, hands-on activities as well as birth videos and stories.
The series is usually offered one evening per week for 5 weeks with a 6th week breastfeeding class optional (although the schedule is flexible and can be modified to the students' time constraints). The cost for the basic series is $125, which includes a take-home workbook and several handouts.

Childbirth Classes
*No classes for spring/summer 2009*
In addition to my doula work, I also teach childbirth classes
out of my home in north Austin. In these classes, expectant
parents will learn:
- the anatomy and physiology of normal birth
- variations on "textbook" labor, and how to
respond to them
- the emotional roadmap of the birth experience
- coping tools and strategies, including deep,
abdominal breathing and relaxation techniques
- risks and benefits of common interventions
- how to partner with your caregiver in determining
the type of birth that you desire
- how Dad can thrive in his role in supporting Mom
- the recovery and postpartum experience and basic
newborn care
