Birth DoulaServices
As your birth doula, I will contract with you
mid-pregnancy and provide you with
the following services:

PRENATALLY:

- 2 meetings where we will talk about your
pregnancy, develop/discuss your birth plan,
explore fears/anxieties, and review
relaxation techniques and birthing positions

- Unlimited phone and e-mail support for
questions, concerns, or needed evidence-based information and resources
throughout the pregnancy

- Access to my birth/breastfeeding/parenting library

- "On-Call" 24/7 availability from 38 weeks on

DURING LABOR/BIRTH:

- Continuous support from start to finish, starting at your home in early-mid
labor or with meeting you at the birthplace, whichever you desire, and lasting
through at least an hour after birth (to help initiate breastfeeding and
immediate bonding)

- Assistance maintaining a calm and serene birth environment.

- Verbal coaching (as desired) and comfort measures (such as massage,
counterpressure, breathing techniques, and suggestion of mobility and
position changes, along with corresponding physical support, as needed)

- Advocacy for your wishes: Though I will not speak for you, I will facilitate
communication between you and your caregivers - answering questions,
explaining procedures, and helping you clarify risks and benefits of any
interventions, so that you are able to give true informed consent.  I will strive
to ensure that you are respected as an active participant in the
decision-making process.  

POSTPARTUM:

- Continued phone and e-mail availability for emotional support and
information on recovery, breastfeeding, and newborn care, with referral to
other specialists (like lactation consultants) as needed

- One follow-up meeting a week or two afterward to admire the baby, review
the birth, help ease the transition of new parenthood, and answer any
questions you may have.
